Official Positions
It takes many officials to run the races and
they have various different roles to perform.
Clerk of The Course + Deputy
This is the man (or woman) right at the top of the chain of command when it comes to the racing. They are extremely highly trained before they are allowed to take up the position and has to take charge of everybody else. They are also the only one who is authorized to call for a red flag and stop the racing. They have a deputy who must step in if the clerk cannot do their duties.

Timekeepers
Timekeeping is very often a thankless job when it comes to both racers and their fans due to these being the ones tasked with handing out penalties to riders that exceed the speed limit in the pit lane. They record what is considered to be matters of fact.

Course Inspection
The course has to be inspected before, in between and after the racing. This is done by the people driving cars and reporting conditions around the course such as mist, damp patches and other dangers that they spot along their route.

Translators
With riders coming over from all over the world for TT and some for the MGP, translators are often needed to help foreign riders understand what they need to do and where they can go for things. Some riders come over to the island with a friend who can translate for them but there are others who do not and this is where the translators come into the equation.
