The Races
Isle of Man TT
The TT is the big racing event of the year as far as many are concerned and has a worldwide following with spectators coming from everywhere to watch their heroes race. It is held end of May into early June. The 37 3/4 mile mountain course is one of the ultimate challenges in road racing and all of the top road racers like to attend the event and do their best to get a win. A good amount of the island's economy is due to these races. The event of two weeks, one for practicing and the other for the 7 races run over the duration.
Races
Superbike TT (6 laps)
Sidecar Race 1 (3 laps)
Supersport Race 1 (4 laps)
Superstock TT (4 laps)
TT Zero (Electric Bikes) (1 lap)
Supersport Race 2 (4 laps)
Sidecar Race 2 (3 laps)
Lightweight TT (3 laps)
Senior TT (6 laps)
Manx Grand Prix + Classic TT
The Manx Grand Prix, or MGP for short, is ran on the same course as the TT but is classified as an amateur version. It is held in August. Any TT riders that come over for the event may only participate in the classics events to make things fairer. There is still just as much danger to it as they are still racing around at breakneck speed. During the classics part there are a lot of parade laps to be enjoyed.
Races
500cc Classic Race
350/250cc Classic Race
F1/F2/ Formula Classics Race
Newcomers Race
Junior MGP
Supertwin/Lightweights MGP
Senior MGP
Southern 100
The Southern 100 race meet is held in Castletown in July each year and has been dubbed the friendly races. Many TT and even some MGP riders come and compete here along with newer faces. The course is very small compared to the mountain course at 4.25 miles. These races aren't as popular but are still well enough attended to be worthwhile.
Jurby Races + Track Days
New faces looking to improve their skills usually benefit from the regular track days held here. They are a good opportunity to get some practice in for whatever races they want to enter. There are also several races here throughout the year. Not many go to spectate up at Jurby so it can be very quiet. You will usually find some local TT or MGP riders flying around the track too.
